Manual reviews and MEGAN video reviews both support trainer feedback, scorecards, and progress workflows, but they are meant for different situations.

Manual reviews are trainer-written and do not require a video. MEGAN reviews start from lesson video and provide draft AI-assisted analysis that trainers review before publishing.

Use a manual review when

  • The barn is on Starter or above and does not need video for this lesson.
  • The trainer wants to record structured notes quickly after a lesson.
  • The review is based on in-person coaching notes rather than video moments.
  • The lesson video is unavailable, unclear, or not appropriate to use.

Use a MEGAN video review when

  • The barn is on Standard or Premium.
  • A lesson video is available and uploaded through the video workflow.
  • The trainer wants moment-based feedback, score suggestions, and video context.
  • Rider tags are correct and the video can be processed before review.

What stays the same

  • The trainer controls the final feedback.
  • Student and parent summaries should be reviewed before publishing.
  • Scorecards can contribute to progress trends when snapshots are created.
  • Sensitive trainer notes should not be placed in rider-visible fields.
