Scheduling
Use the private lesson journal
Keep a shared lesson plan, private rider coaching notes, and attendance together without creating a formal review.
The private lesson journal is included on every plan, including Free.
The shared lesson plan belongs to the scheduled lesson. Rider coaching notes belong to one rider in that lesson, so group lessons can keep individual observations separate.
The shared plan is the same private lesson note shown in Ringside Lesson Mode. Editing it in either place updates the same lesson record.
Per-rider coaching notes are separate from MEGAN rider adjustments and review summaries. They are not copied into MEGAN plans, published feedback, scorecards, or progress snapshots automatically.
Journal content is private to owners and trainers with private-note access. Riders, parents, Barn Managers, family guests, and horse owners cannot see it.
The rider profile shows the lesson plan, rider note, lesson status, and attendance in chronological training history.
The journal does not replace structured reviews. Scorecards, published rider or parent feedback, progress snapshots, and trend charts continue to use the Trial or Starter-and-above review workflow.
Steps
- 1Open a scheduled lesson.
- 2Find Lesson journal near the top of the lesson details.
- 3Add the lesson focus, exercises, setup, or shared trainer context.
- 4Add private coaching notes under each rider when individual observations are needed.
- 5Select Save journal.
- 6Open Riders, select the rider, and review Training history to see the plan, coaching note, and attendance together.
How the journal connects to other workflows
- Ringside Lesson Mode and the journal edit the same shared lesson note.
- MEGAN Ringside creates a separate Trial/Premium AI draft. Its plan and rider adjustments do not automatically become journal notes.
- A manual or MEGAN review is a separate workflow for summaries, scorecards, notifications, and progress snapshots.
- When journal context should become rider or parent feedback, an authorized trainer must deliberately rewrite or copy the appropriate information into a review summary and publish it.
What belongs in the journal
- The planned focus, warm-up, exercises, setup, and coaching priorities for the lesson.
- Private rider observations, improvements, concerns, and next-lesson priorities.
- Operational context that should stay with trainers rather than be published to riders or parents.
When to use a structured review instead
- Use Lesson feedback when the barn wants a scorecard, rider-visible summary, parent-visible summary, notification, or progress snapshot.
- Use MEGAN review when lesson video should support a trainer-approved analysis draft.
- Use MEGAN Ringside on Trial or Premium when the trainer wants an AI-assisted lesson-plan draft.
Troubleshooting
The lesson journal is not visible.
Confirm the active role is Owner/Admin, Head Trainer, or Assistant Trainer and includes private trainer note access.
A rider is missing from the coaching-note list.
Confirm the rider is currently a participant in the lesson. Managed riders without accounts are supported.
The note did not create a progress chart entry.
Private journal notes do not create quantitative progress snapshots. Publish a structured review with a scorecard when the lesson should update progress charts.
